Lathe Machine (Week – 1)

About Lathe Machine
- A lathe machine is a machine in which the cutting tool is rubbed on a rotating workpiece,
- Due to this the material is removed from the workpiece and machining takes place.
- Lathe machine is called the mother of machine tools.
- There are four main parts of a lathe machine,
- Bed, Headstock, Tailstock, Carriage

2.headstock
The headstock is on the left side of the lathe machine,
The headstock has a spindle, gears and a speed change mechanism.
The spindle is the rotating part of the headstock in which the workpiece is held in the chuck.
Firstly, information about the lathe machine was taken. It consists of bed, add, chuck, 3jaw and 4jaw spindle
The craze keeps on going on this bed
The head consists of three parts, the chuck jaw or the spindle, the pulley, and the non-box, which is the carriage and
serves to steer the tail
I Use different drills.
It is possible to do chipping by slowing down the speed of the machine
Machine has to be driven fast for finishing



First of all, the wood was cut into a round shape and after putting it right in the lath machine, it was designed as a stand to hold a lamp.
Anvil Tool

Anvil:- Anvil is the main tool of a forging. It is also called anvil, after heating the metal in the furnace, it is beaten by placing the metal on top of it. It is made of cast steel, its upper surface is hardened.

First of all, the angle of iron was cut and measured. After correcting it with anvil, welding was designed on it and a chair has been prepared from it.

It is used for cutting large size structural steel.
Useful for cutting large quantities.

An angle was cut from the chop show and parts were fitted to the seating chair.
Bench grinder

grinders are used for sharpening common tools and for fattening castings

First of all, the angle of iron was cut to measure and it was designed by correcting it with grinders by welding on it.

The metal is used to make the permanent joint of the joint


First, I designed, by welding, an iron angle and the structure of the chair was completed.

It is used for making permanent joints on sheet metal.
First the steel sheet was cut with the plasma cutter and later it was applied by washperson shank spot welding.

First the steel sheet was cut in the plasma cutter and later it was bandaged with the bending machine.
Milling Machine

Milling Machine About
Milling Machine Milling is a machine tool suitable for connecting and working a workpiece at a milling rate. The milling machine multi-point cutting tool is used on the milling machine to remove the rotating tool from the work piece.
Column drilling machine

About Column Drilling Machine
A drilling machine is a tool commonly used to make circular holes in a solid metal. It consists of a bit which we also call a drill bit or rotating tool, which is usually made of high speed steel. In this, a bit is applied with the help of chuck which can be of different length and thickness.



I measured the frame, drilled the structure and plywood mounted on the frame of the chair. It takes different drills for wood or metal. I chose a specific one to drill on metal.

About hand grinder
Used for grinding and cutting,
Used on iron, sheet metal, wood, plastic etc.
Learn to operate the grinder today, it has a cleaning dish, which is cleaned on the metal.

With the help of a hand grinder, the plywood was cut and installed in the chair.

Threads & Tapping.
The process of making threads from outside the surface is called threading.
Threading die is used for threading,

The process of making threads inside a hole is called tapping.
To do tapping, a tool called tap is used.

There are three types of thread bit taper thread, second thread, bottoming thread



Caliper:

About plasma cutter
Plasma cutting is a process that cuts electrically conductive materials by means of an accelerated jet of hot plasma. Typical materials that can be cut with a plasma torch include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass and copper, although other conductive metals can also be cut.

Steel Metal Design and Cutting with Plasma Cutter
The first parameter required in manufacturing any product is its dimensions. So we measured the dimensions of the table.
The next step in manufacturing is to make a rough drawing of the product to be manufactured. So we made a rough drawing of the sheet.

After rough drawing, we modeled the sheet to be manufactured using SolidWorks software.
We used a plasma cutter to cut the sheet to the desired size. We need G&M code to use plasma cutter for cutting.
Converted 2 dimensional sketch to G&M code using Fastcam software.
Then by using plasma cutter we cut the sheet to the desired size
Bending to the required shape is done using manual bending machine
After that we did spot welding of L angles to make the structure.
Then, I completed welding of the structure to make a strong weld.
Using riveting, I attached the sheet to the bottom.

Home composter
First, I made the composter, its door and its handle
First, I made a drawing of the composter
then, I went to solid work software and designed to make pitch missjali
By designing the door and handle in it and saving it in dxf in the correct size.
Save it in fastcam file and cut it in plasma cutter after making G code file.

- First of all open a new file in it
- After that take the front plane sketch
- then take the rectangle and
- Sketch it in the front plane
- Then we will correct its length and width with smart dimensions.
- which is given in the design in the drawing
- Will extrude the box when it is complete
- After this save it in dxf file
- creating g code in fastcom
- cutting it in plasma

- Finishing it with a grinder
- Welding the part by bending it with a bend machine
- It was completed with Rabbit

I finished my stainless steel home composter.
Assignment :4 Second Home Composter Made of Fiber
First the drawing of the Home composter was made

First of all its hexagonal part appears
After this, I applied the spot of the metal strip to the Panchamis lattice
I applied the L angle of the corner, we make it a complete goal.
I put the thread on it
I also attached handle and hinges
I screwed the U bar with the thumbscrews to the composter on the bar stand
Composter is ready.
Repair arc welding machine
Today the welding machine was checked in the workshop.
So the machine was not running properly due to a faulty terminal in it.
So the machine was run by welding terminal (-) in it correctly.

Atal Karnataka Work shop
There was a 5-hour workshop in which drilling, carpentry, filing
Information about the tools to make and use in the workshop was given.

Assignment :5 Large Solar Dryer Repair
Repairing and maintenance of a large solar dryer was done in the campus. The doors were broken. I opened them and repaired them by welding with a welding machine and the old GSM plastic which was cut and torn was removed and replaced with a new one.



TUM-IITB-SEED Center Annual Symposium Visit 2022
The assignment was given about the home composter project, in which to tell about it in detail.
We have added BARC culture, kitchen waste is filled in this domestic composter everyday and one round is done everyday. After 7 days the manure will fall in the tray below and we can use this manure in the garden for plants

Making Tray Design for Solar Dryer
The new shelf-like design was needed to make the most of the space inside the dryer. In this design the material to be dried is placed on the frame for the purpose of easy access while handling.
The frames are made of 25 mm thick mild steel angles. The keel structure is meant to give rigidity and provide support for the air channel structure.

Conclusion
In workshop, I had the opportunity to learn how to operate many machines and to learn tools usefulness.
