objective
purpose of doing soil testing is know about the nutrients of soil so that a farmer can plant the specific crop or can put the correct amount of correct fertilizer or manure
Method
in soil testing we test the following things
- OC [organic carbon]
- N[nitrogen]
- P[phosphorous]
- K[potash]
- PH
Testing is being done of simple garden soil
How can we test the following
1 OC [Organic Carbon]
Things to be needed
- 100 milligram spoon
- siring of OC
- Dropper
- OC1 chemical
- OC2 chemical
- OC3 chemical
- 2test bottle [5 ml]
- Funnel
Process
- Put 100 mg soil in the bottle
- put OC-1 0.1ml in the bottle
- then put OC-2 80 drops in the bottle
- now weight for 30 minutes
- after 30 minutes
- put OC-3 up to the 5ml mark
- now after 5 minutes take the reading by the help of OC reading instrument
after taking the reading the OC in the soil is 0.3
OC = 0.3
2 N [ nitrogen ]
Things to be needed
1 gram spoon
Dropper
AN 1 chemical
AN 2 chemical
AN 3 chemical
2test bottle [5 ml]
Funnel
Process
- take a bottle
- then put 1 gm soil in it
- put 5ml N-1in bottle
- now let the soil be separated from water for 5 minutes
- now in a clean bottle put 2ml from 1st bottle in 2nd bottle
- put 4 drop of AN-2 in it and 4 drop of AN3 in it
- now mix it genteelly and leave it for 5 minutes
- after 5 min it is ready to test by available nitrogen color chart
after testing we got to know the nitrogen is very low 140
nitrogen =very low 140
3 P [Phosphorous ]
Things to be needed
- 1 gram spoon
- Dropper
- Funnel
- AP 1 chemical
- AP 2 chemical
- AP 3 chemical
- 2test bottle [5 ml]
PROCESS
- take bottle no 1 and put AP-1 up to 6ml mark
- now put 1 gm soil in bottle through a funnel
- now wait for 5 minute
- now fill the solution upto the 3ml mark in 2nd bottle
- now put 6 drops of AP-2 in it and mix gentely
- then put 3 drops of AP-3 in the bottle and mix it gentle
- as the bottle color turns blue we can check Phosphorous
after testing we got to know the phosphorus is 0
phosphorus = 0

4 K [potash]
Things to be needed
- 1 gram spoon
- Dropper
- Funnel
- AK 1 chemical
- AK 2 tabulate
- AK 4 chemical
- 2test bottle [5 ml]
PROCESS
- take bottle no 1 and put AK-1 up to 6ml mark
- now put 2 gm soil in bottle through a funnel
- now wait for 5 minute
- now fill the solution upto the 2ml mark in 2nd bottle
- now pot 1 tabulate of AK – 2 in the bottle and mix it gently
- wait for 5min
- purple color will come
- now take AK-4 1 ml in dropper and gently put 2 drops in the bottle until the color changes from pupal to blue
after testing we got to know the potash in soil is high
potash = high [300]
5 PH
Things to be needed
- reagent ph 1
- spoon 1gm
- funnel
- test bottle
process
- take ph 1 in bottle no 1 upto 5 ml mark
- add 2gm soil with funnel
- put the cap and mix gently
- wait for 10 minute
- after 10 min we can check the ph of soil
after testing we got to know the potash in soil is high
ph = 6.5 to 7

so according to the table i should put more manure in field according to the nutrious value for example we can put
cow dunk manure , vermicompost , jeevamrit , bio gas scullery , etc
From this we got to know the problem of nutrient deficiency faced by me after plantation but now i am aware by it and can fix it and the production will not be affected
