Objectives: Solar DC fan for street vendors: Make survey of product available in market and design solar operated DC fan system in affordable cost for street vendors, shopkeeper

Project description: Solar fan composed of DC fan, solar panel, regulated circuit or charge controller and there may also be a battery . The DC fan directly operates on solar panel. This solar fan is useful for street vendors, shopkeeper.

Steps: i) First I make survey of DC fan which is available in market. From this survey I get it the cost of dc fan is high because of battery.

ii) I design a solar system for 12v, 1A dc fan. a) Determine power consumption demands Power= Voltage * Current = 12 * 1= 12W Total appliance use = (12 W x 6 hours) = 72W-hr Total PV panels energy needed= 72 * 1.3 ( the energy lost in the system) = 93.6 W/day b) Size the PV panel Total Wp of PV panel capacity needed = 93.6/ 5 = 18.72 Wp Number of PV panels needed = 18.72 / 20 = 0.936 Actual requirement = 1panel So this system should be powered by at least 1 panel of 20 Wp PV panel. c) Charge controller PV module specification
Pm = 20 Wp
Vm = 18 V, I = 1.1A
Solar charge controller rating = (1 strings x 1.1 A) x 1.3 = 1.43 A
So the solar charge controller should be rated 2 A at 12 V or greater.

iii) After that I take a REMI fan which is available in Ashram. It required 12V, 1A power.

iv) So I connected the fan directly to the 20 W solar panel but this fan does not continuously run so I require regulated power supply.

v)  So I made regulated circuit by using capacitor 2200uF and Ic 7815. Take trials connecting before the fan.

a) In our campus 3 REMI fan available. But it is not working so I repair 2 out off 3 fans. Now it working good.

b) 5 fans is not in used because absence of suitable adapter
