For testing the performance of silica gel, granules of 3-5 mm were filled in side a G.I. pipe section. Approximately 520 grams of silica gel is filled in the column.
The length of pipe is 12 inch and the inner diameter is 2 inch. The both ends of the column [pipe section] were sealed with 1*1 mm grid Stainless steel mesh and M-seal adhesive.
On both ends of the column hose barbs are fitted for connecting the second manometer to calculate the flow drop through the silica gel filled column.
