Hydroponics is the science of growing or the production of plants in nutrient-rich solution instead of soil.
The flood and drain system works on temporarily flooding the grow trays with nutrient solution and then draining the solution back into reservoir.
In flood and drain system we have taken two crops i.e. marigold and brinjal.
Components of flood and drain system:
1 Reservoir = 10 litres
2 Drip pipes
3 Tee joints
4. Elbow joints
5. Pots
6. Submersible pump
7. Growing media
Hand Sketches of design:
In the first design the pots are arranged in series. The total lenght of system is 120 cm. Height of pots from reservoir is 1 feet. Their are 5 pots arranged in series.
In second design the total lenght is 50 cm. The growing pots are arranged in zig – zag manner
From above two design we have selected the first design for our setup.
Preparation of set up :
Firstly we dig the pit at the location for reservoir to make less distance of the setup.
