Oven Drying of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Larvae for Sustainable Chicken Feed Production
Objective:
To develop a simple, efficient, and low-cost method for drying BSF larvae using an oven, ensuring high protein retention, extended shelf life, and suitability as an ingredient in poultry feed.

1st batch:-
Collection & Cleaning:
Fresh larvae collected and washed with clean water to remove residue.
Blanching (Optional):
Dipped in hot water (~90 °C) for 2–3 min to reduce microbial load.
Draining:
Excess water removed, larvae spread evenly on trays (1–2 cm layer).
Oven Drying Conditions:
- Temperature: 84°C
- Duration: 3hours
- Airflow: Continuous
- Use 9 tray for drying each tray contain 283gm of larvas
- LOD is 63%.
Cooling:
Dried larvae cooled to room temperature.
Packaging:
Stored in airtight containers or vacuum-sealed pouches.
