Subsurface irrigation – Root Feast System
Prasad sir give me a project me a project on sub surface irritation system.Then Ajay Patil showed me sub subsurface irrigation system. I learned the following about subsurface irrigation.
Through subsurface irrigation system reduce the loss of water by evaporation
Maintain the subsurface root feast system we noticed that 5 out of 2 trees have grown properly
After discussions with Dixit sir and Prasad sir , we decided to give water the whole bed with wick system.
For this we decided to put red spinach and amaranthus in the bed.
Components:
- PVC pipe
- Flexible pipe
- Elbow
- End cap
- Wick
- Seed ( Red spinach and Amaranthus)
Preparation of bed:
Diamention :
X1 = 40 cm
X2 = 40 cm
Y1 = 370 cm
Y2 = 308 cm
X3 =
Y3 = 370 cm
Y = 45 cm
X= 90 cm
A) Large bed: 1) b1 × l1 × h1 = 40 × 370 × 20
Area = 14800 cm2
B) Small bed 1) b2 × l2 × h2 = 40 ×308×20
Area = 12,320 cm2
Large bed – Amaranthus (राजगिरा)
15 crop – 56 ml/crop/day
840 ml/bed/day
Small bed- Red spinach (लाल माठ)
20 crop – 85ml/crop/day
1700ml/bed/day
Total Water Required in main line:
1700ml + 840 ml
. = 2540ml ( 2 litre 540 ml)
Flow rate ( Wick ) 5 mm : 5 ml / hr

Sown the seeds of Amaranthus
Since Red spinach seeds were not available Amaranthus Seed were sown in both the beds
Later it started raining so we couldn’t do any further activity.
