  • Lectue on blog writing was taken by Suvarna madam. She taught us how to create blog.
  • Prathmesh sir took lecture on Empathy.

There 5 steps in Design Thinking Process

  • Empathy
  • Design
  • Ideate
  • Prototype
  • Test

What is Empathy ?

Empathy is first important step of Design Thinking Process. Empathy means to understand the problem faced by the peoples. Through empathy we are able to put ourselves in condition of that person and connect with how they might be feeling of their situation.

Way to Empathize :-

1) By talking with that person.

2) By observing the problems faced by the person.

3) By doing the actual work and experiencing the problems.

  • Prasad sir gave us task to find out information about Hydroponics.

About Hydroponics :-

The process of growing plants in sand, gravel or liquid with added nutrients but without soil. Hydroponics also called soilless farming. The liquid nutrients solution used is a mixture of essential nutrients in water.

Types of Hydroponics :-

  1. Flood and drain system
  2. NFT
  3. Deep Water Culture
  4. Aquaponics and Aeroponics
  5. Wick Culture
  • We read the blog of Gayatri Pakhale as their project was based on Hydroponics – Merigold crop.

By reading her blog we understood :-

1) How to design the Hydroponics system setup.

2) Problems she faced while dosing the nutrients to the crop.

Leture by Dixit sir on IC Engine.

  • IC Engine
  • What is combustion?

Cumbustion is process of burning of fuel in combustion chember with oxygen / air.

  • What is piston?

A piston is a cylinder fits in engine cylinder. Piston slides up and down inside engine cylinder against air fuel mixture and it helps to compresses the mixture.

  • Working of IC Engine

In combustion chember there are two valves. From first valve, oxygen is enters into the cylinder and from another valve fuel i.e, diesel or any other fuel is enters. The fuel is mixed with air. Then the piston compresses the fuel-air mixture, the spark ignites the compressed fuel and it causes combustion. The expansion of the combustion gases pushes the piston during the power stroke.

Read the blog of Ajay Patil on Hydroponics – Brinjal crop

By reading his blog we understood:-

1) How to design the Hydroponics system setup.

2) Problems he faced while dosing the nutrients to the crop.

He done 2 nutrient dosing to the crop but it failed due to some problem. Then he prepared third dosing and continued supplying it to the system.

3rd nutrient dosing done to the brinjal crop by Ajay Patil on the basis of glucose chain :-

NutrientsQuantity
1)K₂SO₄2.25 gm
2)MgSO₄1.9 gm
3)NH31.6 gm
4)H₃PO₄3.7 gm
Nitrogen40 g
Phosphorus4 g
Potassium4 g
Calcium4 g
Magnesium2 g
Sulphur2 g

Ajay Patil’s project was handover to us and we maintained it by dosing nutrients weekly and soil extract and sugar solution daily.

Lecture by Dixit Sir :-

  • Human Body

. Human Body contains 65% of oxygen , 18% of carbon , 10% of Hydrogen , 3% of nitrogen , 1.4% of calcium , 1.1% of phosphorus , 0.4% of potassium and remaining 1.1% is Na , Mg , Zn , Fe , B , S , Mo , etc.

Men of average size (77 kg) requires 2300 kcal/ day and women requires 1900 kcal/ day.

  • Solar Thermal , Photovoltaic , Photosynthesis :-

. Solar Thermal :- Conservation of energy from the sun into heat , which can be used for power generation , water heating , industrial purpose , etc.

. Photovoltaic :- Generation of voltage form the energy of light coming from the sun.

. Photosynthesis :- the process by which plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create oxygen and energy in the form of sugar.

6CO2 + 6H2O → C6H12O6 + 6O2

. Next day we did nutrient dosing to the brinjal crop. Nutrient dosing should be given only ones in a week and soil extract and sugar solution should be given daily.

. After dosing nutrients we continued for 3 days adding soil and sugar solution but on 4th day we noticed a slimy layer on the water surface.

10/06/2022 :- Growth data of plant

sr.no.Height of plantNo. Of leaves
1)26 cm6
2)29 cm8
3)22 cm5
4)25 cm7
5)27 cm8

Date :- 13/06/2022 – 18/06/2022

. On Monday Dixit Sir gaves us new research paper and said to give new dosing according to the paper.

. After discussing with Dixit Sir , Prasad sir and Sonal ma’am we did the calculations for proper distribution of nutrients content to the plant.

Calculations :-

According to that paper,

nutrient required for brinjal crop are as follows :

P :- 30.7 – 43.1

N :- 191 – 451

K :- 239 – 441

Ca :- 150 – 170

Mg :- 37.6 – 44.2

SO4 :- 81 – 187

Nutrients required :-

• KNO3 =26.44 g

• MgSO₄ = 6.07 g

• NH3 = 9.64 g

• H3PO4 = 0.945 ml

• NH₄H₂PO₄ =1.34 g

• Ca(NO3)2 =19.53 g

• HNO₃ = 6ml

Calculations :-

Calculations for nutrients dosing:-

EC :- 1445 μS/cm

18/06/2022:- Growth data of plant

sr.no.Height of plantNo. Of leaves
128 cm8
235 cm13
326 cm7
431 cm10
532 cm10

Date :- 20/06/2022 – 25/06/2022

On Monday, we observed that the water in reservoir was decreased by 18 litres. So we checked EC of water. It was 1600 μS/cm higher than EC checked on 18/06/2022. It was due to decrease in water level and due to decrease in water level the concentration of nutrients mixed in water raised and EC raised up to 1600 μS/cm. Then to maintain EC we added 17 litres of water in reservoir.

Problem :-

We observed that the flow of water was not reaching towards first bucket and second bucket was getting overflow.

To find out the problem we de-assembled the setup.

The roots of plant in first bucket were stuck in the pipe from where water supplies in bucket, so it was problem of water resistance.

So, we removed the roots aside from the bucket hole.

Afterwards we assembled the setup and observed that the water supply was reaching equally to all the buckets.

Due to two days of rainfall, the water in reservoir increased. The total water in reservoir was 39 litres. Again we checked the EC of water, it was 1045 μS/cm. We again done the dosing of nutrients for 22 litres of water

25/06/2022:- Growth data of plants

Sr.no.Height of plantNo.of leaves
1)40 cm15
2)42 cm25
3)29 cm10
4)40 cm22
5)41 cm18

Concluding note :-

  • A Hydroponics system of flood and drain is suitable for brinjal crops.
  • 2)Result of new dosing shows faster growth in plants.
