Objectives

We collect the dust on solar water heater for maintenance of solar water heater.To see the difference in efficiency after measuring dust.

Material

Procedure

First ,we wiped the dust off the evacuated tube with a damp cloth.Then the dust in water is kept to settle and the water is filtered through filter paper.The filter paper was left in the sun for 2 hours then weighed.Hence, the following data on collection of dust on solar water heater.

1) Solar water heater on Meditation hall

We know ,

Wt. of filter paper 1= P1=2.78gm

Wt. of filter paper 1 with dust = 4.51gm

Wt. of dust on 10 pipes of meditation hall solar water heater = 4.51 – P1 = 4.51 – 2.78 = 1.73gm

Therefore,

Wt. of dust on meditation hall solar water heater = (1.73*32) / 10 =5.53gm

2) Solar water heater on Boys hostel

We know

Wt. of filter paper 2= P2 = 2.98gm

Wt. of filter paper 2 with dust = 3.93gm

Wt. of dust on 5 pipes of boys hostel solar water heater = 3.93 – P2 = 3.93 – 2.89 = 1.04

Therefore,

Wt. of dust on boys hostel solar water heater = (1.04*32) / 5 = 6.65gm

3) Solar water heater on DBRT boys hostel

Wt. of filter paper 3=P3=1.31gm

Wt. of filter paper 3 with dust =2.16gm

Wt. of dust on 5 pipes DBRT solar water heater = 2.16 – P3 =2.16 – 1.31 = 0.85gm

Therefore,

Wt. of dust on DBRT solar water heater = (0.85*32) / 5 = 5.44gm

4) Solar water heater in Technopark

we know,

Wt. of filter paper 4=P4=1.33gm

Wt. of filter paper 4 with dust=2.31gm

Wt. of dust on 5 pipes of technopark solar water heater = 2.32 – P4 = 2.31 – 1.33 = 0.98gm

Therefore,

Wt. of dust on technopark solar water heater = (0.98*32) / 5 = 6.27gm

Conclusion

Cleaning the dust increases the efficiency of the solar water heater.
