Water holding capacity
- Water holding capacity refers to maize seeds capacity to hold the water.
TRIAL 1
- Procedure :
- I had taken 100 gm of soaked maize grains.
2.Grains were soaked in tap water and warm water for 24 hours.
3. Then maize grains were put on the oven to dry. (at 110° C)
Maize seeds place into oven Temperature
4.I taken weight of maize grains after one hour of interval
5.Until the constant readings were not get
6.After that I calculated the water holding capacity from the following formula:

W.H.C = Initial weight – final weight / Initial weight × 100

= 41.66 %
Conclusion :
water holding capacity of maize seeds is 41.66%.
