The trial of the air heating section was conducted by running the heaters and then passing the air through at different flow rates. the heaters and the thermostat were calibrated using a laboratory thermometer. The test was mainly for checking the working of the heaters and for checking the working if the controller.
The G.I. Pipe was to be filled with medium size stones. This was to reduce the velocity of air passing through the heaters and also to increase surface area of heat transfer. the stones also helped to retain a lots of heat for a long time reducing the load on the heaters.
the thermo couple sensor of the thermostat was placed within the air flow but away from the heaters.
